The Glencoe Folk Museum was co-founded in 1966 by Miss Barbara Fairweather MBE, and Mrs Rae Grant and for both ladies, it was a life's work. Their aim was “To collect, preserve and exhibit articles, costume, objects and information, relevant to the history and social conditions of the Glencoe and North Lorn district for the purposes of education and interest”. In the early days Mrs Rae Grant’s support for the museum included physically stopping the demolition of the building by standing in front of the bulldozer!  Later she was regularly seen outside the museum demonstrating how to spin or weave. Now in her 80's she enjoys meeting visitors to the museum and sharing her wealth of knowledge. Staff and trustees are mostly volunteers. Funding comes from admission charges and the Highland Council The History of Glencoe Museum About Us The museum is run by Glencoe & North Lorne Museum Association as a Charitable Trust registerd in Scotland (Number:  SC002786).
